I have not posted in awhile. Candidly the summer was filled with what seemed continuous episodes of pain. Pain from surgery, pain from recovery, pain from alternative treatments, pain from eating the wrong food, etc. In early August, we found out the cancer had returned. While this was incredibly deflating at the time, when I look back at everything my body went through since surgery maybe I should not have been surprised as I was. The good news is there are only 3 spots and they all are relatively small.
I know life isn’t fair and this certainly didn’t feel fair after everything I went through, I was really looking forward to “normal life” for 90+ days but that was not meant to be. Even with all of this going on, a friend helped me realize that I still Get To:
· Go on hikes with my wife and daughter
· Meet friends out at a restaurant
· Travel and enjoy warm weather
· Smell and taste great Dunn Bros coffee (I did not get paid for this endorsement)
· Learn and progress on swimming laps without sinking
· Keep my body moving through rebounding, stretching or simply walking around the block
While the above have not always been easy this summer, I still got to do them when I know a lot of people could not because of their own challenges. With all of the negativity that seems to permeate our daily lives it is increasingly easier to forget about all the things we get to do. Take a moment, make a list of all the things you Got To Do last week. I guarantee you will feel better than spending that time on your phone…(you know this is true, but will you really do it?)
Thank you for continuing to send PEP! It continues to help my family and I through this challenging chapter. Best, Chris
